CHSWGs, or Children’s Hearing Services Working Groups, are based in health authority areas, and aim to ensure that all services designed to support deaf children and their families work in a co-ordinated way.

Each group includes representatives from health, social services, education, the local voluntary sector, and crucially, parents of deaf children who contribute a unique perspective.

Each hospital that provides paediatric audiology services should have a CHSWG that meets regularly and discusses any issues of interest to families with deaf children. This includes newborn hearing screening, local services and facilities, local education provision, getting information out to families and social care and events.

If you have a question for your local CHSWG or an issue you think they should be discussing, you can contact a parent representative on your local CHSWG.
